The Department of Sociology and Criminology at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position to begin August 1, 2020. This is a one-year position, with possibility of re-funding. In this position, the Scholar would be expected to conduct independent and collaborative research with a focus on child maltreatment, childhood adversity, the child protective services system, and/or the foster care population. Responsibilities would include data management and analysis, grant preparation, and manuscript preparation. Required Qualifications include: Doctoral degree to be completed no later than August 1, 2020 in Sociology, Criminology, Human Development, Social Welfare, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related human services field, Research interests in child maltreatment, child welfare, or related areas, experience with quantitative analysis and strong writing skills. In addition, successful candidates must have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community. Additional Preferred Qualifications include Research and/or professional experience related to child protection/foster care systems or child maltreatment and experience cleaning and analyzing administrative data.
