The Office of Sponsored Programs has an opening for a Proposal & Award Generalist 1. This position provides support to the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs (primarily scheduling various meetings and preparing special reports.) Serves as Office Coordinator, responsible for overseeing day-to-day office logistical operations. Interacts on a regular basis with university administrative offices and external sponsors. Reviews and processes grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health for adherence to government and university policies and identifies non-standard terms and conditions. Supports review and processing of gifts, grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, subcontracts, tuition agreements, and other related documents from external funding sources (federal agencies, state agencies, private companies, and foundations) that provide support for research, curriculum development, and outreach projects. Provides guidance to team and to OSP staff for special projects and new policies and procedures. Serves as backup for logging and handling of contractual documents. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are preferred. Familiarity with Strategic Information Management System (SIMS), and completion of the ACES program preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work independently within a team environment, foster teamwork, and cooperatively manage work flows in conjunction with other unit staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
