Description

The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State University (Clearinghouse), seeks a Research Technologist to provide Technical Assistance (TA) to professionals serving military families. The Technical Assistance team connects professionals serving military families with the best evidence-based program or practice for their situation. The duties of this position include handling incoming TA requests via phone, email, or live chat, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. E.S.T., developing tools and resources to assist with program implementation and evaluation, and connecting military partners to evidence-based resources grounded in principles of implementation science. The Clearinghouse is an applied research center, nationally recognized for its work that focuses on improving the health and well-being of military service members and their families. Projects focus on topics such as parenting, building family resilience, preventing family violence, enhancing child and youth development, suicide prevention, obesity prevention, evaluation of mental health treatments, veteran transitions from military to civilian life, and families at risk, among numerous others. Selection is dependent upon successful accomplishment of background clearances in accordance with Penn State Policy. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience conducting applied research and program evaluations as well as a Master’s degree in a social science field are preferred (e.g., social work, psychology, human development, or family studies). Knowledge of military culture and military families, or a military background are a plus. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to synthesize research findings to address TA requests and must value working collaboratively within a team environment. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
