Description

The School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend invites applications for a 1-year Postdoctoral Research Assistant. The preferred attributes of the candidate include: Polymer/materials engineering PhD with a strong record in interdisciplinary research, experience with government funding proposals, and industrial experience with understanding of life cycle analysis and the circular economy. Duties include, but are not limited to: undertake high-quality materials supply chain life cycle analysis research, including investigating and embedding toxicology and sustainability measures into materials life cycle analysis; develop novel measures and undertake comparative mapping, modelling and analysis of materials supply chains; play an active research in establishing Advanced Resource Efficiency Centre (AREC)-USA; work as part of a project team in undertaking and delivering the research and output for supply chain life cycle analysis work, including working closely with industry partners and DOE ARPA-E; demonstrate commercial understanding of the importance of supply chain life cycle analysis and evaluate impact of the research from sustainability and economic perspectives; interact with academic and industry in the research process for data collection and analysis. The candidate should be able to plan their own research schedule and workload to ensure that the overall project milestones and objectives are met. Academic outputs should include journal publications and presentations and papers to conferences. The candidate should be able to work with researchers, industry stakeholders and policy makers from a range of collaborative areas within and outside of the University and partnering institutions.
