The Office of Science Engagement ( is seeking Peer Mentors for the academic year. Peer Mentors will coach other students on how to successfully engage in undergraduate research, experiences abroad, and other career development opportunities. Coaching will include: effectively communicating the importance and impact of engagement, teaching students how to identify opportunities, and sharing tips for success in applying for opportunities and engagement funding. Mentors will attend a training session and weekly meetings with Office of Science Engagement staff. Peer mentors may also assist the Office of Science Engagement at events, with communication strategies, and other duties as needed. Candidates should be comfortable speaking publicly, be independent workers and possess a strong work ethic, be courteous and respectful of others, and be innovative thinkers. Applicants must be enrolled in an Eberly College of Science major. Preference will be given to students who have participated in the ECoS Summer Undergraduate Research Program or have other relevant engagement experiences at Penn State. This is a part-time position beginning fall semester; up to 10 hours per week with the possibility of renewal for the spring semester. Number of hours per week and specific schedule are flexible.
