Description

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position to begin on or after October 1, 2019. The position will involve being responsible for supporting the ongoing research projects in the department. A successful candidate should have a strong background in energy harvesting and electromechanical systems design with demonstrated abilities to work independently, publish, and organize research projects. The candidate is expected to contribute in the ongoing projects on magnetoelectric and piezoelectric energy harvesting. The experience in designing and evaluating harvesters for increased power and efficiency is required. The candidate should have experience in developing linear and non-linear vibration and magnetic field energy harvesters. A strong experience in using finite element analysis, and Multiphysics simulations to design optimized and efficient energy harvesters is expected. The position is based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, working under the supervision of Professor Shashank Priya and Dr. R. Sri Ramdas, and there will be opportunities to collaborate and interact with a broad group of faculty and students. It is expected that applicants will have completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the start of the position. Funding is available for one year.
