Description

The Division of Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences at Penn State Altoona invites applications for the tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Social Studies Education, beginning Fall 2020. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Social Studies Education, or closely related field, no later than at the time of appointment. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in the Elementary and Early Childhood Education program (PK-4 certification). The position requires teaching three courses per semester, conducting original research published in scholarly journals, and providing service to the College, community, and profession. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with other education faculty, as well as teachers and administrators in local school districts who contribute to our mission of ensuring the highest quality pre-service teacher education. Candidates will also be expected to participate in student recruitment and retention, and program assessment. Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
