The projects will involve working with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians (including epidemiologists, MD/DOs, psychologists, registered dietitians, social workers, nurse practitioners, and other allied health professionals). This is an ideal position for someone who may be looking to start an academic career in nutrition, public health, research, or other medical professions. The perfect candidate should be enthusiastic about finding and testing ways to help people improve their health. In addition, this candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills, and have (or be willing to learn): An interest in social determinants of health, and in developing and evaluating nutrition and behavioral interventions. Some basic research experience-qualitative and/or quantitative. The ability to work independently and in teams. Some basic skills in data reporting, management and statistical skills. Basic understanding of research project designs and the need for attention to detail in implementing research protocols. A willingness to collect biomarkers such as blood, urine, blood pressure, weight, saliva, etc. The ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities in a professional, positive manner. Some travel within the Penn State Cancer Catchment area will be required including the need for the occasional overnight stay. The candidate must have reliable transportation. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
