An entry-level Virtual Reality (VR) Software Developer is needed for the Visualization Technology Department in the Visualization and Decision Support Division of the Communications, Information and Navigation Office (CINO) within the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University. The position will require the application of software development and content generation skill sets to develop features for a Unity3D-based synthetic environment framework. Applications developed are deployed to a number of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) platforms including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, Magic Leap, Hololens, and CAVE displays. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (Professional Engineer license accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree), or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A degree in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, or Computer Engineering is preferred. Experience in: Unity3D, Unreal, 3D Modeling Concepts, Autodesk 3DSMax or Maya, Geospatial and GIS tool suites, VR content development, game design, and/or related software is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering, systems engineering, human computer interfaces or visualization technologies. Experience in object-oriented programming languages is required. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
