The MakerSpace at Penn State Abington is hiring persons for the position of Maker Space Monitor. This position is open to qualified undergraduate students who meet the following criteria: Full-time student status at Penn State Abington. Competency with digital technology including one or more of the following, GPA of 2.5 or above, the ideal candidate possesses one or more of the following skills: 3D modeling proficiency in Maya, 3DMax, Fusion 360, and/or Solidworks, vector graphics proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Inkscape, proficiency with WordPress content management system, proficiency with standard shop equipment including table saw, compound miter saw, band saw, and/or drill press, experience with 3D printing, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, laser engraving, or any prior experience as a MakerSpace client is helpful but not required. The duties of the position include: Being available during and dedicated to scheduled work hours, maintaining order and cleanliness in the MakerSpace, assist clientele (students, faculty, or staff) who are using equipment, ensure a safe working environment at all times, reinforce MakerSpace policies and procedure, monitor and record use of equipment, alert MakerSpace Coordinator of any issues or concerns, report any safety incidents to MakerSpace Coordinator during regular hours or to Campus Security after hours and assist with MakerSpace special events as needed. Available hours are negotiable based on schedule of candidate and Coordinator. Preference will be given to candidates who express interest in incorporating the position into an internship. Students may not work for more than 20 hours per week and may not work for more than one department at the College. The search will remain open until all the positions are filled for the Fall 2019 semester. Compensation is the standard campus rate of $9.50/hr.
