Description

Penn State Conferences and Institutes (part of Outreach and Online Education) is seeking to hire a Program Assistant to provide support and assistance in the development and delivery of a variety of credit and noncredit educational programs geared toward youth, Penn State students, and adults. Program Assistants work collaboratively with Program Managers and faculty/chairpersons throughout the planning and delivery of a diverse range of programs. Duties include (but are not limited to) communicating by phone, email and in person with participants, students, parents, and faculty about various program details; participating in planning meetings with Program Managers, faculty and staff within and outside of the university; preparing documentation for IBIS and various financial forms; communicating with conference speakers and exhibitors; collecting, compiling and creating conference/program materials, such as name badges, name tents, certificates, labels, notebooks, meal tickets, and handouts; coordinating the set-up of online conference and youth program registration and opening/maintaining courses in LionPATH; generating registration lists and other program reports; managing on-site registration; and assisting with a variety of logistical arrangements. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with LionPATH, FileMaker, 25Live, IBIS, and Destiny is desired but not required. The ideal candidate must be able to act independently and as a member of a team in a busy environment, must possess strong oral and written communication skills, be detailed-oriented, highly organized, and be able to handle multiple priorities and meet overlapping deadlines. The team member will need to demonstrate proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications.
