Human Resources is looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to join their Absence Management team as a Human Resources Specialist 2. As an HR Specialist, this position is responsible for administering Leave of Absence (LOA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers’ Compensation (W/C), Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) for the University. This individual serves as a subject matter expert on University’s policies, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation and disability and absence management. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and national requirements related to LOA, FMLA, W/C and disability, and recommend changes to current programs to ensure compliance, as appropriate. The Absence Management team serves as a key point of contact for employees requesting information about or currently covered by a form of Leave of Absence. The Specialist will coordinate with management and the HR Community, as needed, regarding issues related to pay, benefits during leave, return to work, work accommodations, etc. Additional HR Specialist 2 responsibilities include managing HR105 leave data, communications and processes, processing monthly disability vendor payments, and benefits delinquency reports. The HR Specialist 2 will manage team communications, knowledgebase articles and will assist in training/escalation of complex cases, as well as miscellaneous projects in addition to managing the assigned leave cases. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This individual will have exceptional phone and customer service skills; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills; ability to prioritize appropriately and monitor deadlines.
