The research laboratory of Dr. Pia Abel- zur Wiesch, at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to hire two Research Technologists, level 2. The lab uses mathematical models together with the statistical analysis of experimental and clinical data to design improved antibiotic treatment strategies. We seek candidates that are highly enthusiastic about basic research with medical applicability, and are motivated and willing to integrate in a young team of researchers. You should have solid programming skills (preferably in MATLAB, R, and Python) and have experience with code optimization, software development, and parallel computing. You should also have a strong quantitative background and be passionate about applying your skills to biological and medical questions. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering is preferred. A strong interest in Public Health, Pharmacology, Infectious Diseases, Biochemistry and Mathematical Biology is desirable. Previous experience with mathematical modelling and analysis of large datasets is an advantage, as is experience in pharmacokinetic modelling and clinical research. Publications in the field are a strong bonus. Excellent command of English and scientific writing skills are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
