The successful candidate will participate in the facilitation of the Deputy Sheriff Basic Training Program, which includes the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of instructors, students, campus facilities, off-campus housing, and all other aspects of a full-time residential training academy. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the day-to-day conduct of the Deputy Sheriff basic Training Program participants complies with the requirements, rules, and regulations as set forth by the Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Board/Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. We seek candidates who are able to demonstrate experience and ability to advance Outreach’s diversity initiative. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred. Experience in compliance and working with state oversight agencies is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate’s qualifications include administrative experience, law enforcement experience, working within budget guidelines, demonstrated experience working with curriculum development/revision/delivery, and familiarity with the duties and work of Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs. Prior teaching and/or training experience is required. A working knowledge of adult learning principles is a necessity. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work within strict timelines are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
