Description

The administrative unit for the Departments of Communication Arts and Sciences, Philosophy, and Applied Linguistics in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking a motivated and creative professional with excellent communication skills to act as an Assistant to the Event Manager with events and activities such as colloquium, workshops, conferences, round tables, invited speakers, etc. This position also includes acting as the primary point of contact in administrative suite for visitors, reception and facilities duties, including, but not limited to: entering work orders for things like routine repairs (light bulb replacements, broken faucets, hvac issues, etc) and computer inventory management assistance. Additional responsibilities include assisting with website updates including social media, maintaining the events calendar and listserv, composing events emails, event photography, etc. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required and working knowledge of web-based graphic design programs (such as Canva) highly recommended. Web page updating experience also preferred. University experience in CollegeNET is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as a strong commitment to teamwork and diversity. Flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are critical. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
