Penn State Outreach and Online Education is seeking a talented UI/UX Designer with experience in responsive web design, user-centered design thinking, concepting, usability, and accessibility. You will work closely with our creative and web teams to create engaging and easy-to-use websites that serve the end users of Penn State World Campus, as well as other websites for Outreach and Online Education Marketing. We are looking for a motivated individual who understands user interface and experience design, has the ability to create meaningful user experiences, and has an eye for pixel-perfect visual design. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working on results-driven web projects with strong underlying business objectives and has experience and/or working knowledge with gathering and evaluating user requirements in collaboration with project managers and creative director. The candidate will also need to prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders, identify and troubleshoot UX challenges, adhere to brand guidelines, provide design and technical specifications for developers, ensure that the designs align with additional supporting materials created by creative services, effectively balance the desires of the user with the needs of the business, and balance creativity and innovation with technological realities and project constraints. Other requirements include an in-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and a general knowledge of HTML, CSS, and CMS (Drupal/WordPress). Knowledge of Basecamp, JIRA, and InVision and IA experience are also a plus. The person in this position will work alongside an experienced team of professionals with expertise in the areas of strategy, design, project management, accessibility, information architecture, project management, front- and back-end web development, search engine optimization and marketing, web analytics, and print and online marketing. Ability to interact with clients and colleagues is essential to success in this position. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
