Description

The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) at Penn State has an immediate opening for a Research Technologist, Level 1, for the DOE-supported Program on Coupled Human and Earth Systems (PCHES). Duties include collaborating on design and assessment of flood risk management strategies under the supervision of multiple faculty; implementing computational analyses; and documenting analyses in a reproducible way in support of peer-reviewed publications. The requirements include familiarity with one or more of the following: GIS software; Linux-based computation environments; or programming languages such as R, Python, C, or Fortran. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with issues related to coastal flooding is also preferred. The successful candidate will have experience with manipulation and analysis of large datasets, particularly in an econometric framework.
