Description

The Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO) will use this posting to fill multiple roles within the office. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Greet visitors entering Shields Building. Direct visitors to Bursar, Registrar, Admissions, and Student Aid offices. Provide campus directions and parking passes to visitors. Answer telephone and direct calls as needed. Answer prospective student emails and work within the UAO’s computer systems. Help to cover the second floor UAO reception area by checking in families for their visits and answering questions. Assist prospective and current Penn State students by connecting them with a counselor as needed. Communicate on a daily basis with program partners as well as the UAO staff. Coordinate and update tour guides on any specific details for their tour. Take the initiative to ask questions, solve problems and resolve conflict to improve visitor experiences. Communicate with residence hall show room students prior to each tour. Attend mandatory staff meetings for updates throughout the semester. Coordinate students into tour groups on-site. Assist with data entry and daily reports. Assist with other projects and duties as assigned. Individuals should have a professional demeanor, be dedicated to customer service, and have the ability to provide accurate information to visitors. Candidates should possess good attention to detail, and strong organizational and planning skills. The student employee should be reliable and personable. Opportunities in this position to learn technology skills that will be valuable upon transition into the workforce. The ability to relate well to prospective students and their families is also required. This position will be from August 26th through December 13th. Please keep in mind Penn State students holding multiple paying positions at Penn State cannot work more than 20 hours total per week. There may be weekend work with this position, as well.
