Description

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Education and Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions. This individual is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the Undergraduate Admissions Office and for the organization and implementation of all activities and responsibilities related to the office. The Executive Director reports directly to the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education and serves as a senior member of the Vice President’s leadership group and Enrollment Management Cabinet. The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for: the analysis of information and data necessary to formulate strategic university-wide admissions and recruiting plans and goals across 12 academic colleges at University Park and 19 Commonwealth Campuses and in coordination with the World Campus; directing and managing the Admissions office budget and staff, including hiring, training, professional development, and evaluation; consulting with other University officials regarding all aspects of undergraduate admissions, including development of new or revised programs, strategies for achievement of admissions goals and special programs, support of Penn State’s multi-campus structure and 2+2 option, and articulation of policies and procedures. The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions works closely with the Office of Student Aid, the Office of the University Registrar, and college and campus administrations; serves on various University committees, including the University Faculty Senate’s Committee on Admissions, Records, Scheduling and Student Aid and the University-level Committee on Undergraduate Enrollment; and maintains external and internal communications and relations with other universities, professional associations, and service organizations to keep informed on national, regional, and local trends in higher education and admissions and represent the University at professional meetings and conferences. Position requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent) and at least five years of effective experience in administration of higher education. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate superior leadership contributing effectively to academic excellence, diversity, and quality improvement in a large multi-campus public university. Essential qualities and skills include, but are not limited to, planning, organizational, and management skills, excellent public speaking and communication abilities, high energy and creativity, capacity to work collaboratively with others, ability to resolve problems, and sound and ethical judgment.
