The College of Agricultural Sciences Office of Grants and Contracts is seeking to hire an energetic Research Administrator during a time of exciting change, growth, and innovation within the department. The candidate will be an integral part of this vibrant team's goal to become a model of “best-in-class”, must be able to embrace and participate in change processes, and be dedicated to continual learning and improvement. This position provides pre-award support and reports to the Lead Pre-Award Research Administrator of Grants and Contracts. This position will perform work activities in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment that requires multi-tasking expertise, managing conflicting priorities often on a deadline, timely work production, and the ability to solve complex problems. The selected individual’s job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: preparing and reviewing complex proposals for University signature and submission to federal, state and local government agencies, private companies, and foundations; advising faculty in all aspects of proposal writing and preparation; preparing proposal subsections, including budgets and non-technical components of applications; reviewing and interpreting sponsor solicitations to advise proposal development teams; and determining project expenditure compliance with guidelines; work with Department Research Administrators and Staff, Faculty, Associate Research Deans, and Institute Directors to calculate, process, and reconcile/verify matching funds on grants; and obtain departmental, College and University approvals as required. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with managing email, electronic research administration programs such as IBIS, Excel, Word, SIMS Budgets, and sponsor specific submission systems is preferred. Successful graduate of the ACES program is preferred. Requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of diverse responsibilities. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Capability to work both independently and as a team member, ability to multi-task, and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential. Familiarity with a broad spectrum of granting agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors. Qualifying for and maintenance of delegated signature authority is vital to this position.
