Description

Penn State Law seeks applicants for an Interim Director of Student Services. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Services, this position will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to Penn State Law’s student organizations and their extracurricular activities, as well as organizing and collaborating on student events throughout the year. This position will work with both student organizations and individual students on non-academic programming, including, but not limited to; wellness, leadership, and diversity. Additional responsibilities include addressing student-related, personal and professional issues that arise during law school; providing counseling and outreach services to a diverse population of students to enhance their personal and academic success; advise student organization leaders and work with the Dean’s office to help set the calendar for student events. Knowledge of resources, principles, and practices of administration in a higher education or related setting is strongly preferred. Advanced degree in law, higher education, psychology, or related field and three to five years' of student services experience is preferred. The successful candidate will have exceptional written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills, must be able to work largely self-directed with a high degree of personal accountability; strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office; demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse population; ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion. This is an interim, short-term appointment that will end once a permanent Director is hired.
