Penn State Hospitality Services is seeking part-time Restaurant Supervisors for the Gardens Restaurant at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Floor management/supervision of meals, special events, and room service; opening and closing duties; interacting with internal and external guests and other departments to resolve issues and complaints; assist staff in the smooth execution of flawless customer service; lead team briefings; monitor and document employee performance; manage and lead line staff; train staff in proper procedures; act as a role model for Guest Pride standards; assist the Manager with scheduling employees for required training sessions; maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for guests and staff, and take corrective action to resolve issues; manage micros and banking operations, reservations, and sales reports; assist the Culinary Staff in expediting food orders and buffet items; supervise the monitoring of temperatures of buffet items, and taking corrective actions if needed; ensure security of liquor inventory while on duty; monitor staff in the sale and service of alcoholic beverages; and perform all necessary duties as assigned by the Manager for the smooth operation of the restaurant. The successful candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all line-level restaurant and bar duties. Work hours are various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Prior server/trainer/leadership experience is highly preferred.
