Description

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), a Division 1A and Big Ten (B1G) Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant Director of Performance Psychology Services. This position is responsible for assisting student-athletes in developing mental skills and strategies essential to maximizing sport performance, and educating student athletes and coaches on psychological principles and strategies to achieve optimal performance. The position is also responsible for providing performance counseling and support to student-athletes and teams upon request, conducting initial consultation and assessments for student-athletes with a wide range of performance, behavioral, emotional, and developmental abilities, and making referrals as appropriate. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counselor education, college student personnel, psychology, social work, education, higher education administration, or related discipline or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology; Sport and Exercise Psychology; Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sports Psychology; Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology; Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology, or other related area preferred and additional years of experience with high performing athletes also preferred. AASP certification is strongly preferred. Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures set forth by Penn State, Penn State University Department of Athletics, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA and work within the framework of Federal (FERPA/HIPAA) and Pennsylvania state laws and regulations with regard to privacy and confidentiality.
