The Pennsylvania Center for the Book (PACFTB) seeks a student actively pursuing a degree in GIS, Geographic education, or a related field, for a paid Bednar Internship for the 2019-2020 academic year. Only full-time juniors and seniors “exhibiting academic excellence” are eligible. Experience working with Esri ArcGIS software and extensions, Cartographic design principles, and Microsoft Office Suite applications is necessary. Interns will assist the enhancement of the Literary and Cultural Heritage maps of Pennsylvania, as well as develop and design additional story maps with a stronger K-12 curricular focus. Interns are required to prepare a brief report summarizing their experience at the conclusion of each semester of their internship. These reports become part of the permanent records maintained in the Libraries Administrative Office and are shared with the endowment donors. The internship is for approximately 20 hours per week and may be a paid position and/or for school credit, at the student’s choice. To apply for this internship, please complete the online application, and, in addition, please upload a cover letter and résumé.
