Penn State Altoona invites applications for the tenure-track appointment of Assistant Professor of English with a specialty in Shakespearean/Renaissance Studies, beginning in fall 2020. Credentials in Chaucer/Medieval Studies are also preferred. The successful candidate will teach upper- and lower-level Shakespeare classes, composition, the early British survey class, and other general education literature courses related to his/her interests. Additional teaching interests are welcome. In addition to Chaucer/Medieval Studies, some of our needs include women’s, gender, and sexuality studies; Postcolonial and/or Transnational studies; and specialized composition courses, such as business writing, technical writing, and writing in the social sciences. The position requires a Ph.D. and is at the level of assistant professor or at a rank commensurate with qualifications. Applicants should present a record of evidence and potential effectiveness in teaching, research/creative accomplishment, and service. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, research, student recruitment and retention, and curricular development and assessment.
