Description

Penn State Lehigh Valley (PSLV) seeks a highly motivated person to serve as a full-time Business Development Associate (BDA) in support of the Lehigh Valley office of Business Development, Community Outreach and Engagement. Specific emphasis will be to expand Penn State Lehigh Valley’s community partner base, develop and create new corporate and business relationships that support PSLV’s mission and goals, support and develop educational programming, and collaborate with academic program directors and business partners to meet the workforce development needs in the community. Job responsibilities will require the selected individual to work closely with local businesses, industries, government, and non-profit organizations, including an extensive alumni network, to develop, cultivate and secure business opportunities around workforce development needs. This person would also work closely with support staff to manage program logistics and successful outcomes. Responsibilities include developing, selling, and administering a wide variety of education and training programs to include professional development and customized training primarily for the working adult audience. A typical schedule for this position includes day, evening, and occasional weekend hours, depending upon appointments and programming. The position will report to the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement. Candidates should have knowledge of educational programming, and a collaborative/team mentality. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Previous marketing and/or sales experience helpful. Job responsibilities will require the selected individual to work closely with local businesses, industries, government, and non-profit organizations, including an extensive alumni network, to develop, cultivate and secure business opportunities around workforce development needs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
