Description

The Business Services Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Financial Coordinator to join the Financial Reporting Department. Responsibilities include: Post award management: Providing monthly reports on status of funds, Level of Effort (LOE) monitoring, manpower planning, review of travel expenses to match labor, review of Fabricated Equipment Questionnaire (FEQ) capital purchases, monitor and resolve deficits, and reporting of hours and various sponsor reports; ensure compliance to University policy and procedures; provide updates to the Office Business Manager's, Principal Investigator's (PI's), and Office Head as needed; assist OBM on the preliminary preparation of the financial outlook graph by reviewing financial system data and reports to help ensure accuracy of reporting; assist with the management of the financial requirements of contract close out; provide support to the Principal Investigators to ensure verification of financial information; assist with the submission of professional development, strategic bid, and proposal and other special requests; and provide monthly reports and supporting schedules as required. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preferred experience with project management and project costing on government contracts. Experience requirements include: Accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, the ability to work in both teams and individually, and hold a comfort level working with external sponsors and internal Penn State University employees.
