The Center for Medical Innovation within the Office of the Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Research Project Manager. Primary responsibilities include: support research opportunities by drafting commercialization statements for grants, identifying relevant funding opportunities, connecting faculty for collaboration across University and with industry partners; support commercialization and business development by evaluating new/potential invention disclosures by determining stage of development, the medical unmet need and market opportunity; support innovation training, education programs and workshops; administer all metric reporting and generate quarterly reports; and other duties as defined. The Center for Medical Innovation provides a service-oriented organization within the Penn State system and the local community to deliver economic and social value from Penn State Medical Innovation. The Center supports the research enterprise at the College of Medicine and related college efforts impacting health; develops and deploys valuable research to impact human health; works with a collaborative team to maximize the value of Penn State intellectual property; and creates positive impact on the economic development and social well-being of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A technical background in biomedical/life sciences with business education and/or experience along with a working knowledge of commercialization strategies is desirable. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, must demonstrate effectiveness in understanding and presenting business/scientific information, ability to effectively communicate technical information to a range of customers, strong management skills, attention to detail, self-motivated and assertive with the ability to work independently in a team environment and have the ability to establish priorities. This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire with the possibility of refunding.
