The Science Information Technology (IT) department in the Eberly College of Science is looking for a motivated and self-driven IT professional to join their Service Desk team. This team is responsible for the IT needs of roughly 850 faculty and staff, plus graduate students, in a diverse research and teaching environment. We’re looking for a candidate who is able to effectively troubleshoot system issues, manage short-term projects, and assist our customers with policy compliance. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A familiarity with endpoint management tools like BigFix, network and cybersecurity fundamentals (i.e. best practices), Office 365 software (specifically email and calendaring), and general service desk operations will give you an edge, but so will a proven ability to learn the mechanics of an IT system and apply that learning to a thorough resolution. While specialized aptitude is required, just as important is a genuine interest in helping people. Our team is focused on customer service and that drives everything we do. The Eberly College of Science is a high-level teaching and research college and for it to succeed in its mission we have to be adaptable, empathetic, personable, and knowledgeable. We’re looking for a candidate who embodies those characteristics – someone who will take a customer’s technology problem, understand it on a specialized level, take ownership, and provide them with a solution that brings them satisfaction and happiness. It’s also vital that you enjoy collaborating with a close-knit team – the daily duties will consistently require working with and assisting other members of our department.
