The Security Services Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking experienced Security Officers. Responsibilities include: Assist with the development and management of advanced industrial security practices, procedures, processes, and trainings, including briefings, while ensuring compliance with government policies and regulations; provide agile, efficient, and exemplary security support and customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in a fast-paced, complex, and rapidly evolving environment; coordinate or oversee the management of advanced security programs such as Communications Security (COMSEC) and Operations Security (OPSEC), as well as physical security systems and counterintelligence; work autonomously in a very busy and highly service-driven environment; and prepare for and represent ARL in all aspects of security inspections and oversight by U.S. government (USG) agencies. This job will be filled as a level 4, or level 5, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 4. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Security, Risk Management/Analysis, Criminal Justice, Military Science, or Business Administration is desired. Experience in the following is preferred: Security Information Management System (SIMS); Department of Defense (DoD) security systems; government security clearance process and requirements; DoD or USG-based industrial security experience; as well as cyber and physical security principles, including sensitive and/or controlled information, electronic access controls, alarm systems, and video surveillance. A background in leadership, compliance, and risk-management, as well as military experience, are all highly desirable. Experience requirements include: Physical, and/or operational security principles; security clearances and process; handling of classified materials; and Microsoft Office software, databases, and web applications. The successful candidates will be a service-oriented team-players with polished interpersonal and office skills, including above average written and verbal communications, with a high attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously and effectively in fast-paced environment.
