A post-doctoral position is available in the Parkinson’s Disease Translational Research Laboratory and Clinical Trials Center (PDTRL) under the direction of Dr. Thyagarajan Subramanian. The ideal candidate would be a recent PhD in neuroscience or related disciplines with graduate experience in neuronal recordings using multichannel or equivalent electrodes in combination with optogenetics and microdialysis/neurochemistry. Experience with advanced signal processing techniques will be a major plus. Familiarity with rodent models of Parkinson’s disease and behavioral testing paradigms in such models desirable. Strong scientific writing skills and critical thinking abilities is expected. Selected candidate will become a part of a team that is exploring novel methods to understand basal ganglia neurophysiology and neurochemistry in the setting of experimental therapeutics for Parkinson’s disease. The position will allow for independent scientific growth and opportunities to interact with a wide variety of scientists involved in neuroscience, electrical engineering, computer science, neuroimaging, stem cell biology, neurochemistry and molecular biology. Involvement with biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry funded pre-clinical and clinical research is possible for interested candidates.
