Description

The Vice Provost for Online Education at Penn State is seeking an experienced leader for a newly created role to deliver comprehensive enrollment management and support services for the University’s highly successful World Campus (online education). In this role, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction and leadership for all World Campus Enrollment Management Services, to include admissions, financial aid, registrar, bursar, and transfer credit services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with central administrative enrollment offices, the Bursar’s office, and various academic and support units to oversee the creation of a seamless enrollment management services process. The Executive Director will develop both short-term and long-term goals for assigned units, monitoring progress and evaluating results, in alignment with the World Campus strategic plan. The successful candidate will bring extensive knowledge of the ever-changing national demographics and the competitive nature of the business of enrollment management as demonstrated through specific metrics such as increased retention and graduation rates. Additionally, the Executive Director will administer a unit budget of $6M and successfully forecast resource needs for staffing and operations. Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in at least one or a combination of the functional areas managed by the position is preferred: admissions, bursar, registrar, transfer credit or financial aid, and at least 4 years of management experience is preferred. To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the ability to present the new vision of World Campus enrollment support services persuasively. The Vice Provost for Online Education is seeking a creative self-starter who can build and inspire a team to develop and implement an integrated approach to enrollment services and do so in a transparent and collaborative manner. This role will require strong change management skills and a commitment to being proactive and building trust among staff and other University academic and support units. The ideal candidate also will demonstrate excellent communication skills, effective leadership and team building skills, experience with embracing technology and data to inform decision-making, and experience in the development and implementation of long-range enrollment plans. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with experience identifying opportunities to build a program to attract and retain a diverse student population are also required.
