This individual will be responsible for the accounting, reconciliation and compliance of all federal, state, private, and university financial aid programs including grants, loans, and external awards funds. The Accounting Manager will perform various tasks such as preparing financial reports, providing data for the University Financial Statements, monitoring and preparing reports for campus based aid cash management, completing year-end close process, drawing down federal funds from the Department of Education, and assisting in the preparation of Penn State’s Financial Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) report. This position interacts with various Penn State offices and outside agencies and also provides exceptional customer service at all levels including interactions with students and parents. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite applications and excellent communication skills are required. Experience with student and business systems/software is highly desirable. This position requires excellent problem solving skills to plan, organize, and direct work objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and delegate tasks; ensure established standards of continuous quality improvement are met; ensure operational and strategic directions and accountability; identify opportunities and implement changes to existing processes procedures, policies, and plans, and provide leadership for outstanding customer service at all levels of the organization. Completion of a favorable background and credit history check is required. This position is required to be compliant with Federal Regulations, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and privacy laws such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
