The Resiliency, Identity, and Sexuality in Emerging adulthood (R.I.S.E.) Research team is seeking an undergraduate student for a paid research assistant position for the 2019-2020 school year. One student Research Assistant will be hired at the Mont Alto campus to assist with all stages of a research project exploring culturally relevant substance use prevention interventions for sexual and gender minority populations. The Research Assistant will assist with the following: online survey design and programming, online survey pilot testing, data cleaning and analysis, manuscript development and writing, and assistance with external grant application components. The Research Assistant will meet weekly with Dr. Barrett Scroggs, Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) for training and supervision for these responsibilities. The Research Assistant will be paid $14.00 per hour and will work 5 hours per week during the 2019-2020 school year. This position is a year-long position funded by the Penn State Commonwealth Collaboration Grant program. Qualifications include: currently enrolled student at Penn State Mont Alto, course Prerequisite: HDFS 312 - Empirical Inquiry in Human Development or PSYCH 301 - Basic Research Methods in Psychology or similar coursework, passion for understanding gender and sexual minority experiences and substance abuse issues, quantitative research experience preferred, experience using SPSS and Mplus statistical software preferred, HDFS and Psychology major preferred, coursework and/or experience with sexual and gender minority populations preferred.
