Penn State Hazleton is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist in the Office of Strategic Communications to research, write/produce, edit, and distribute articles and other promotional materials that highlight student and faculty accomplishments; strengthen student and alumni engagement; and express our strategic initiatives with a storytelling approach. The position will follow Penn State guidelines in the creation of social media campaigns, stories and news releases. The successful candidate will effectively use various print and social media channels to promote a positive image of the campus, and its internal and external partners. Responsibilities will include creating and executing a plan to guide the use of social media accounts; using data, analytics, and metrics to measure the success of social media efforts; using graphic design software to produce visually appealing materials; assisting with video production to highlight campus features and programs; and writing news articles for publication on university platforms. Additionally, the position will assist with photography for campus events and stories and will assist with coordinating public events and special projects as assigned. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication and writing, customer service, project management, and multi-tasking skills, together with a strong commitment to teamwork are required. Candidate must be prepared to share samples/portfolio of work to show experience. Occasional night and weekend work will be required to support campus events throughout the year.
