Description

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), a Division 1A and Big Ten (B1G) Conference Institution, is seeking an Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications. Responsibilities include overseeing the Strategic Communications unit to include internal and external messaging, brand awareness and crisis communications. Serve as the ICA spokesperson, taking a leadership role in collaborative communications planning to create synergy with all units in ICA and Penn State strategic communications; frequent collaboration with Marketing, Creative Services/Branding and Video Production units to ensure effective and consistent communication and messaging; liaison with the Big Ten regarding television opportunities for all sports; direct supervision and evaluation direct reporting members of the Strategic Communications staff. Other responsibilities include primary contact with the B1G Conference and B1G Network; coordinate event day and time changes requested by the B1G and national media partners for television purposes; and maintain historical data and conduct research to show ICA’s standing in a variety of academic and athletic related metrics in comparison with peer institutions and provide data to Leadership Team and sport administrator on a regular basis. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or related field preferred, plus work-related experience in branding, communications or public relations is preferred. Proficiency in recording and editing video, knowledge and experience in social media messaging, website content management and integration, HTML coding, InDesign, Photoshop, Statcrew and Genius Sports software is preferred. Previous experience in a Division 1A program preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Position requires considerable initiative, creativity, and independence. This position requires strict adherence to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Big Ten, and Penn State rules and polices.
