Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer

The Systems Modeling and Simulation Department in the Systems and Emerging Capabilities Division of the Undersea Systems Office within the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineers to join our team. These positions will execute current and anticipated modeling, simulation, and study tasks. Responsibilities include: Application of current modeling and simulation capabilities toward answering emerging Navy needs; assisting with execution of simulation studies and condensing results into a cohesive, actionable message for the sponsoring activity; refinement of current modeling techniques toward improving future capabilities; and model and utilities development, to support an enterprise-scale simulation suite. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (professional Engineer license accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree) or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Physics is preferred. Prior experience in: Linux operating systems; Fortran, C, C++, or Ada programming languages; Simulink; digital or analog signal processing techniques; project management; and verification and validation of digital models is preferred. Prior experience in computer programming and MATLAB are a must. Candidates must be organized, have a strong attention to detail, and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
