Description

The Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg is looking for a data savvy individual to join our team as a part-time research assistant in Middletown, PA. This is a temporary position. Hours are offered on a project-by-project basis. Employees in good standing might be invited to return to work on future projects, but there are often breaks between projects. Hours will be predominantly between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, but evening and weekend availability may be required. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Conducting data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis/statistical testing in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS); developing surveys in Qualtrics web survey software; performing data entry for mail surveys; assisting with qualitative research, such a focus groups; and writing technical reports. The successful applicant must have: a high school diploma or equivalent; ability to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week on a flexible schedule while a project is in progress; comfort working with data in a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Excel and SPSS; strong technical writing ability; ability to follow rigorous research standards; a demonstrated commitment to quality and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Completion of the training on the Protection of Human Participants through Penn State’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) will also be required. Preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor`s degree or higher; previous experience with survey research, market research, or marketing, or undergraduate or graduate coursework in a related field; experience or coursework in statistics or data analytics; and experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools. Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with Penn State policies.
