Description

Andrea Hobkirk, Ph.D., is seeking a Human Research Technologist 3 to implement procedures for several projects in the areas of addiction and neuroscience. Current projects investigate the neural and behavioral effects of harm-reduction tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes and reduced nicotine content cigarettes. The position is located in the newly built Cancer Institute on the Penn State College of Medicine campus. Data will be collected in the MRI facility and Clinical Research Center on-campus. The position is housed within a team of tobacco researchers at the Cancer Institute and will involve close collaboration with other laboratories in the College of Medicine. Specifically, the Human Research Technologist will implement standard operating procedures of study protocols, primarily through data collection. Maintain compliance to federally and internally approved protocols (IRB, FDA, NIH, etc.). Recruit, screen, and schedule volunteers for research participation. Assist with data management through data entry, report development, basic statistical analysis. Process biosamples (blood, urine, saliva) for analysis and storage. Assist with preparation of scientific abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals. Assist training of new research staff and students. Collaborate with faculty, staff, internal and external groups with multidisciplinary projects across departments. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree and research experience, good attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
