The Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking to hire a Researcher to support the Artificial Heart and Cardiovascular Fluid Dynamics lab and research projects under the direction of Dr. Keefe Manning. Specifically, the position will facilitate and oversee the biological and biochemical aspects of research with specific interest in coagulation and platelet activity. The individual should be able to perform human/animal blood experiments related to thrombosis and create/use protocols for in vitro blood studies; write and maintain IRB and IACUC protocols, analyze data and train other lab users on performing approved experiments; oversee lab safety training; manage the purchase/ inventory of lab supplies and equipment; and limited supervision of lab wage or student employees. The lab engages and shares interests with the College of Medicine (CoM), as well as University-wide institutes, such as the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences (Huck), and the Materials Research Institute (MRI). Typically requires a Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
