The High Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging Facility at University Park seeks a full time Research Technologist. The Facility is a part of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and is a fee for service facility which serves the entire Penn State community. The core provides a variety of services including, in vivo small animal imaging, plant MRI, and material characterization. This position will be responsible for assist in maintaining systems (cryogen fills), operate both 7 Tesla and 14 Tesla imagers, to assist and perform work for Facility users, obtain training in MRI theory and then be expected to train student users. We are seeking an individual with a background in biomedical engineering, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering or engineering science and mechanics. Additionally, we seek individuals capable of, and comfortable with, working in a team environment. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Relevant lab experience is preferred. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with co-workers and customers are essential attributes of the successful candidate. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
