The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) seeks a Client Engagement Graduate Assistant to join our engagement team. You will be an integral contributor to a dynamic and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in advanced research cyberinfrastructure (ICS-ACI). Penn State’s elite researchers use our high-performance research cloud to solve real-world problems by conducting simulations, data mining, and other high-performance computing operations. You will participate as an important member of our community of specialists to support this ground-breaking work. As our Client Engagement liaison, you will work as part of a team to provide proactive client support such as assisting clients to maximize their ICS-ACI investment through proactive outreach. This includes assisting researchers in troubleshooting or optimizing their code, developing code testing methods, assisting researchers in streamlining their workflows, building software packages to support researchers and working with researchers and research teams to help them better utilize the ICS-ACI system to support their research. This position requires a graduate student in good standing; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level Wage. Desired skills include: experience in a scientific field (engineering, science, math, etc.) and experience performing computational analysis in a high-performance computing environment. Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are greatly desired. Additional preferred education, experience or certifications. The ability to pick up and learn information technology concepts and infrastructure quickly and independently.
