Description

The Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture is seeking an Academic Advisor to be part of our advising team. This position will assist the lead adviser in the Stuckeman School. The successful candidate will have a background in academic advising with strong commitment to serving diverse student populations. Duties will include providing academic advising to Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Graphic Design undergraduate students, assisting students in navigating University policies and procedures and program curriculum; Assist with special events and programs. Responsibilities also include solving procedural academic problems, identifying and monitoring academic progress of student advisees, helping students with university systems including lionpath, starfish and canvas, and maintaining confidentiality of student records. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or counseling and/or academic advising experience is preferred. Competencies critical to success include: attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking; experience working with a diverse body of students; demonstrated time management skills, which includes ability to manage multiple responsibilities; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; adaptability to change. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Will work 40 hours per week.
