Overall, this position is responsible for endpoint management for over 700 faculty/staff, classroom/lab, and research devices. The Information Technology Generalist 3 also maintains and configures campus servers, both physical and virtual. Such management includes ensuring proper operation of software, hardware, and operating systems campus-wide. This position is also expected to provide end-user support to students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates of the University through phone, remote connectivity, and in person interaction. This position is tasked with applying vendor issued fixes and patches in order to resolve both software and hardware issues and to maintain system stability and security. Also, the need to communicate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues is constant and is the basis of providing solutions. To keep systems secure and efficient this position is also responsible for removing software and hardware that is no longer needed and/or at end-of-life. Other responsibilities include the use of programming to ensure the stability of applications and processes. Tasks also include accessing systems, such as servers, to monitor the performance, capacity, and efficiency of installed systems and services. Provide backups for the faculty/staff and research machines in order to guarantee data stability and security. This position is expected to provide training for all campus community members, subjects including but not limited to data security, cloud services like Box and Office 365, Canvas, Jabber, WorkDay, and other university IT services. Specific training to our student workers is also expected. Responsibilities also include the configuration and programming of classroom podium technology such as touch panels, media switchers, and other media control systems. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with ServiceNow and TeamViewer is a plus. User service and satisfaction is a key performance factor of this position. This position requires scanning and taking both retroactive and proactive measure to prevent security violations and to resolve any vulnerabilities. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
