Marketing Communications Specialist (Production Coordinator)

The creative team in the Office of Strategic Communications Penn State’s central news, public relations, and marketing division is looking for an experienced production coordinator to guide and facilitate the planning and delivery of small- and large-scale creative projects. Reporting to the Marketing Department’s creative director, the production coordinator will help ensure that project staffing, goals, timelines, deliverables and workflows are clear and on track for meeting key unit priorities. The successful candidate will know how to work with designers, writers, strategists, photographers, videographers, and web developers, as well as internal and external clients. In addition, he or she will have experience developing and integrating creative content with marketing, media, and public relations professionals and across paid and owned channels. Responsibilities include reporting project status, monitoring creative-team workloads, managing scope creep, and consulting with key stakeholders to help define goals, strategies, and expectations. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, pay strong attention to detail, and be self-motivated and self-directed. Proficiency using robust project management software and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Drive is essential. The ability to manage social media and video projects and experience with marketing, news, and public relations is highly desired.
