The College of Education is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and dedicated individual with a commitment to teamwork to join the Learning and Performance Systems Department team as a Financial Assistant 3. This position supports the Department Head and the Administrative Support Coordinator in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems in the day-to-day management of general and restricted accounts, including grants and contracts. The Financial Assistant is responsible for the purchasing and processing of expenses, assisting with supplemental payments, and is the delegate for department employees for the completion of travel reports. This position also involves providing appropriate reports for budgetary tracking and forecasting and serving as backup for staff members responsible for human resource appointments. The position requires monitoring and resolving of expenditures, resolving discrepancies, handling cash receipts, and reconciling direct bill expenses. The position also collaborates with the College Research Office staff to ensure expenditures on research budgets are reasonable, allowable, applicable and allocable, and communicates this information with the department faculty and/or principle investigators. As a Financial Assistant, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, university, college and department policies and procedures for all budgetary transactions and reviewing transactions and forms for accuracy. This position dually reports to the College Finance Officer and Department. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will display a strong commitment to inclusion practices which support diversity throughout the University and must be able to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative situations. Commitment to a high level of customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population are highly valued. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
