Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) seeks a highly motivated Systems Design Specialist to join its Digital Learning Environment (DLE) team. This position works with, designs, and builds services and tools for IT departments distributed across the University that participate in central device management services, including Systems Management at Penn State (SysMan) and Cooperative Lab Management (CLM), as well as Student Printing Solutions and Virtual Application Solutions (WebApps/WebFiles). Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with analyzing/diagnosing large desktop environments in Windows, macOS, and Linux; and software packaging, deployment, and license management is required. Specialized experience in the following areas is highly desirable: IBM BigFix, Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and/or JAMF; Active Directory and group policy management; Windows Server configuration and management; Microsoft SQL Server database management. A strong commitment to customer service, substantial technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving analysis and critical thinking skills, quality verbal and written communication and presentation skills, the ability to learn new things quickly and independently, and high performance in a team environment are required. Familiarity with Enterprise Active Directory (EAD); ITIL/IT service management best practices, including working with a ticketing system like ServiceNow; managing a printing environment with an enterprise tool like Pharos UnitPrint; and experience interpreting and implementing Penn State security policies is preferred.
