Description

The School of International Affairs (SIA), a professional graduate school, is rapidly growing and expanding its operations. Staff are both part of a cohesive team that works closely together and given the opportunity individually to grow, invest in themselves and develop professionally. At SIA, staff work side by side with faculty and administrators to shape the School’s future. SIA is currently searching for an Operations and Events Assistant to provide varying levels of support to all units within the School. This position is responsible for planning events for the School, including, but not limited to: new student orientation, open house for admitted students, various admissions events, career services trips, graduation related events, seminars, workshops, special events that may include high-profile guests, and others. This position will be responsible for working with vendors, interacting with visitors to the School, collecting and tracking data/RSVPs, scheduling space, and other logistics. The position also serves as the primary point of contact for the School and will provide support to School operations including: processing expense reports and reimbursements, faculty support, arranging travel, arranging visits to the School, monitoring and tracking applications to the program, working in the customer relationship management (CRM) system, maintaining records and databases, preparing letters and mailings, maintaining calendars and appointments, and other duties as assigned. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have the ability to multitask and handle multiple project simultaneously, the ability to prioritize and problem-solve effectively, and have initiative. This position also requires a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and individually. Previous event planning experience is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, e.g. Word, and Excel is essential. Knowledge of GRADS, ERS, and University policies and procedures is strongly preferred.
