Description

The Hafenstein Lab and the Lindner Lab at The Pennsylvania State University are recruiting an outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar for a NIH-funded project to focus on Cryo-EM structural studies of medically relevant proteins from the malaria parasite (Plasmodium) as well as virus and host interactions and tech development. If not already experienced in structural biology, candidates should be willing to learn and become an expert in all aspects of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Cryo-EM, including sample preparation, instrument use, data processing and structural analysis. Preferred candidates will have conceptual and practical experience with TEM and Cryo EM experimental (sample preparation/screening/vitrification) and computational (RELION, cryoSPARC) approaches. Postdoctoral Scholar will benefit from access to a state-of-the-art Titan Krios microscope with on-site experimental and computational infrastructure and support. The Hafenstein Lab and Lindner Lab are part of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the main campus of The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA), and also have direct ties to the College of Medicine (Hershey PA). We are also a part of the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (CIDD) and part of the Center for Malaria Research (CMaR) at Penn State. The successful candidate will be offered competitive salary and benefits packages, as well as considerable professional development opportunities. Candidate must submit/upload a letter of interest, along with CV, a brief description of career goals, and the names and contact information for three scientific/professional references.
