Description

The Center for Healthy Children at Penn State is currently seeking a Research Project Manager to advance its mission of research and education in the area of child maltreatment. A primary focus of the Research Program Manager is the Child Health Study – a large scale research study recruiting 1,200 families and children in Pennsylvania to better understand how life experiences may cause changes in biology that can affect child health and well-being. The Research Project Manager will work closely with Child Health Study Principal Investigator to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Child Health Study. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: oversee and advise on the Child Health Study; oversee study infrastructure and standard operating procedures and workflow processes; collaborate with investigators by reviewing, evaluating and making recommendations for study initiatives; supervise research study staff (e.g., human research technologists, project coordinators, data managers, graduate students, wage payroll) to include hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and developing staff; serve as back up for family study visits; ensure study is compliant with university policies, IRB, government regulations, and office of information security; contribute to strategic planning of the study; problem solve and address day-to-day challenges; maintain appropriate documents and reports; oversee recruitment efforts using research participant recruitment management software (i.e., Ripple Science); manage targeted participants and comparison matching; optimize recruitment efforts to ensure recruitment targets are met; recruit families for study; oversee data management team’s work with study databases; liaison between data management team and study protocol team; serve as primary communication liaison between study faculty and staff; prepare bi-weekly reports to faculty and staff; and participate in study faculty meetings. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in qualitative and mixed methods research a plus. Solid technology skills, proficiency in Office 365, and experience with recruitment programs such as Ripple Science are preferred. Knowledge and experience with social science research required. The successful candidate must have excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, and management skills. Ideal candidates will have outstanding problem-solving skills, initiative, teamwork and team-building abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate sound judgement abilities. Requires the ability to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff, and colleagues within the University. This position requires the following clearances: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
